Privacy policy

What data Blue Stream Controller uses, why, and how you stay in control of it.

The essentials in 30 seconds

  • Your production stays with you. vMix images, sound, titles and the connection code never leave your local network.
  • The free version shows ads. In Europe, you choose whether they can be personalized.
  • We measure app usage and crashes to fix and improve the app. You can turn crash reports off.
  • We don't sell any data.
  • You can delete everything : your account from the app or at account.bluebroadcast.app, and any other request by email.

Who is responsible for your data

Blue Stream Controller is published by Bethel Tech Africa, a sole proprietorship of Sylvain Jonathan TOUNGA (NINEA 012511946), with its registered office at Ouagou Niayes II, villa no. 360, Dakar, Senegal.

For any question about your data: privacy@bluebroadcast.app.

This policy covers the three parts of Blue Stream Controller: the mobile app, the server installed on the vMix PC (Blue Stream Server) and this website.

What stays on your local network

The phone and the PC talk to each other directly, over your venue's Wi-Fi or cable. We receive nothing from this exchange:

  • vMix images, sound and titles;
  • the list of your inputs, overlays and shortcuts;
  • the commands sent to vMix;
  • the 6-digit connection code;
  • the name and IP address of connected phones, shown only on the PC.

Mobile app

Here is what the app sends, use by use.

Ads

  • What is used: the phone's advertising ID, its IP address, its model and operating system.
  • Why: to show the ads that fund the free version (Google AdMob).
  • Our legal basis: your consent, where the law requires it (in Europe in particular). Without consent, ads are still shown but are not personalized.
  • Retention: set by Google.

Usage statistics

  • What is used: screens opened, features used, an identifier tied to the app installation (not to you as a person) and your approximate country.
  • Why: to know which features are really used, in order to improve the app (Google Firebase Analytics).
  • Our legal basis: your consent, where the law requires it.
  • Retention: 14 months.

Crash reports

  • What is used: when the app crashes, the error that occurred, the phone's model and operating system, and the app version.
  • Why: to fix failures, starting with those that happen during a live show (Google Firebase Crashlytics).
  • Our legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing you with a reliable app. You can turn these reports off in Preferences.
  • Retention: 90 days.

Remote settings

  • What is used: the installation identifier.
  • Why: to turn on or adjust a feature without releasing a new version (Google Firebase Remote Config).
  • Our legal basis: it is necessary for the app to work.
  • Retention: set by Google.

Saved servers, your language and your preferences stay on your phone. They are not sent to us and are deleted when you uninstall the app.

On first launch in Europe, a window asks for your consent to personalized ads and statistics. You can change your mind at any time in Preferences › Manage my privacy choices.

Account and Premium

The account is optional: the app works fully without it. It is used to get Premium back on your devices. Premium sales will open soon: until then, no payment data is collected.

Sign-in

  • What is used: your name, your email address and, depending on the method you choose, your password or the identifier Google sends us when you sign in with it. The password is stored in protected form by Firebase Authentication: we never have access to it.
  • Why: to recognize you and link Premium to your account.
  • Our legal basis: it is necessary to provide the plan you chose.
  • Retention: as long as the account exists, then deleted within 30 days.

Premium and devices

  • What is used: your plan, its end date and, for each device connected to your account: its name, its model, its system version, the app version, its last connection and a random identifier created by the app (never the serial number).
  • Why: to activate Premium and apply your plan's limit of 2, 3 or 5 devices.
  • Our legal basis: it is necessary to provide the plan you chose.
  • Retention: as long as the account exists, then deleted within 30 days.

Payments

  • What is used: the transaction ID, the amount, the date, the email address and country provided at payment, and the country derived from your IP address at the time of purchase.
  • Why: to prove the payment, handle a refund, keep our accounts and apply your country's taxes.
  • Our legal basis: the law requires us to keep these accounting and tax records.
  • Retention: 10 years.

Payment is processed by our payment provider, named in the terms of sale: we never see your card number or bank details.

Windows server (Blue Stream Server)

Settings, the list of blocked functions and the activity log are stored only on the PC. They are never sent to us.

To offer updates, the server regularly checks a public file hosted on GitHub. GitHub then receives the PC's IP address, as with any web page. No other information is sent.

This website

The website is hosted by Google Firebase, which keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, requested page) for security and to keep the service running.

The website uses no advertising cookies and no audience measurement. It only remembers the language you chose, in your browser. Fonts are hosted with the website: no request is sent to a third-party service.

Who receives your data

We don't sell or rent any data. Only these providers receive some, for the uses described above:

  • Google : Firebase (audience measurement, crash reports, remote settings, accounts, website hosting) and AdMob (ads).
  • Our payment provider : payment for Premium plans, as the controller of its own processing. It will be named here when sales open.
  • GitHub : the public file for server updates.

These providers may process data outside Senegal, notably in the United States and the European Union. These transfers rely on their contractual data protection commitments.

How long we keep it

  • Audience measurement: 14 months.
  • Crash reports: 90 days.
  • Account and Premium: as long as the account exists, then deleted within 30 days.
  • Transactions: 10 years, as required by accounting rules.
  • Ads and website logs: period set by Google.

Your choices and your rights

  • Ads and audience measurement : Preferences › Manage my privacy choices.
  • Crash reports : Preferences › Send crash reports.
  • Delete your account : in the app (BlueBroadcast account › Delete my account), at account.bluebroadcast.app (My profile › Delete my account), or by writing to privacy@bluebroadcast.app from your account's email address. This erases your account, your Premium status and your registered devices, in every BlueBroadcast app.

You can also ask to access your data, correct it, erase it, receive it in a readable format, restrict its use or object to it. Write to privacy@bluebroadcast.app; we reply within one month.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can contact the data protection authority of your country of residence, or Senegal's Personal Data Protection Commission (CDP), which oversees us.

Security

Each phone must enter the 6-digit code shown on the PC; after 5 wrong codes, it is blocked. You can change this code at any time, which disconnects every phone. Exchanges with our providers are encrypted.

Children

Blue Stream Controller is a professional tool and is not intended for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update the date below. For any significant change, we let you know in the app.
